TCL 50S451
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·James
First of all, note that the claimed 31,000 reviews are for many different TCL models. Mixing all the reviews together is shoddy and it reduces the value of all reviews because you can't tell what's what. There are many reviews claiming the speakers sound awful but no particular model mentioned. My speakers sound as good as you can expect from any 50 inch TV but I did already have a full AV 5.1 amp system so I piped that in through an HDMI channel. The low price for this TV is in part due to the cheap leg kit included, there are many choices to upgrade to a nice stand.\nThis model's back panel has all the mounting holes down low so any mount you use will tend to raise the height of the display higher than normal with older TVs. Knowing this, I selected a stand with height adjustments - the 'Perlesmith Universal Swivel Tabletop Stand' for under $30 is compatible with this TV's 200x200 VESA mounting holes.\nSIZE - this is considerably larger than my old Visio which was in the '50 inch class" but was actually about 48 inch diagonal. I barely had the room for this larger screen in my installation. \nThe remote sensor is on the bottom front center edge. There is a tiny dim white LED there to indicate the TV has power and is ready. This can not be turned off in the menu like my old Visio but it is a pretty dim LED.\nThis has all the features ROKU offers except RF remote and there is a way to connect to an antenna and scan for your local channels, accessed through the 'Live TV' option menu which also includes free streaming of live channels, a function you can turn off. Note that the remote is IR so if you were spoiled by the Roku RF remote tuner kit which has more features and needs no pointing towards the TV, this is a downgrade. But I believe that phone apps will give you an RF remote.\nIt performed very well with no lag with my home wireless signal.\nI am replacing my ten year old Visio which was bought before 4K was a common feature. The picture on this is indeed more crisp but plan on taking time to set up the picture controls to your liking - out of the box, mine was very dim before adjusting. It took a lot of doing to get it right for my tastes. \nI am not happy with TCL's handling of power consumption data. The Walmart webpage says this uses only $10/ yr in power but I received a TV that has the yellow sticker saying it will use $25/yr and it is not energy star compliant. I found no sticker listing the power consumption in watts but I don't feel excessive heat coming off of it and it will go into low power mode when you let it sit unused.\nAnother reason for my choice was the fact that the input plugs are on the right side for convenient access in my installation. It has all the inputs I could want and note there is no RCA jack inputs on this. My mounting stand did not block any of the plug access.\nI have no use for a smart phone so I won't be messing with all the connectivity and bluetooth features but I may buy bluetooth headphones at some point.

It came very fast, my delivery driver was wonderful they put the tv exactly where I wanted. So far the tv is wonderful! no issues with delivery. No issues thus far with the tv. My husband loves it. Our old tv stopped working and we went without a tv in our living room for 3 weeks til i decided it was time for a new one. I did alot of research looked at the reviews and they were all good reviews, some were bad but it was mainly due to delievery issues with the tv screen being cracked or lines in it when they hooked it up. I had mine delivered but it was delievered by a driver not ups or any of the others. I would suggest to anyone that the brand and The quality is good. clear picture, nice sound although we have it hooked up to our stereo for surround sound. I would suggest that maybe they put Left and right on the legs as to we had to switch them around. That is the only issues so far is the legs have to be labeled or something saying which way they go. We are at some point going to hang it on our Tv stand and that way we can remove the legs. \nother than all that it was a good purchase right price. I dont suggest getting the protection plan from walmart as the tv has a 1-2yr warranty throught the brand itself. so kinda wasted 36.00 dollars on that but better to have protection than not. \nWe are happy with our purchase as of now its only been a little over a week and half of having it but time will tell. We are samsung family on our house and I would buy this brand again if that means anything. \ngood purchase worth the price considering it was cheaper than our 65" samsung tv. We game and it has nice picture clear. What else can i say other than buy it but dont have it delievered from ups or fedex if your going to have it delievered have it delievered with a driver they seem to have more care than the ups or fedex drivers do. Also it is a roku tv which is nice considering we just have to sign in with a roku app and all the apps we use are already on there. I do like that the remote says the name on it due to our sons having a roku tvs as well and this way the remotes will not be mixed up! \nThat is all go buy it if ya are thinking about a new tv. Again it was worth rhe price for a brand that we have never used before!

I've had the TCL 65” Class S4 4K UHD HDR Smart TV with Roku TV for a few weeks now and I'm really impressed with what you get for the price. Setup was quick and painless—plug it in, connect to Wi-Fi, and the Roku interface practically walks you through everything. The home screen is simple and easy to customize, and having all the major streaming apps (Netflix, Disney , Prime, etc.) ready to go is a huge plus.\n\nPicture quality is excellent for a TV in this price range. The 4K resolution is crisp, and HDR gives movies and games richer colors and more depth. Blacks aren't OLED-level, but they're surprisingly good and bright scenes really pop. The 65-inch screen makes a big difference for movie nights without taking over the room. Also, my phone fails to capture just how clear the image is. So, don't rely on my photo alone.\n\nSound is decent for built-in speakers—clear enough for everyday watching—but pairing it with a soundbar gives a more theater-like experience. I also like the voice-enabled remote; it makes searching for shows or adjusting settings super easy.\n\nOverall, the TCL S4 delivers a big, sharp picture and smooth streaming at a budget-friendly price. If you want a reliable, no-frills 4K TV with an easy smart platform, this is a fantastic choice.

i've had this tv now for 2 months. the picture quality and size is as good as i need at 8' distance.\ni was surprised at how little it weighed. wireless connection i quite good at 12' with no notable delay between remote, tv, and network. the roku network is new to me, with numerous setup, input, setting, additional viewing networks, and channel search and remove options. i was skeptical whether i needed or wanted a dedicated network viewing experience, but have come to appreciate it. sometimes my locals disappear, but a quick off/on resets them.\nquite happy with the purchase.

I rated this TV 4 stars because overall it performs very well for the price. The picture quality is clear and vibrant, and the 4K resolution looks great for streaming and everyday use. The built-in Roku TV makes it easy to navigate apps and set up was simple. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the sound quality could be a bit stronger, and at times the system responds slightly slower than expected when switching between apps. However, for the cost, it still offers excellent value and works perfectly for my needs.

The price of the TV and the size is OK. Could be better with contrast ratio. But you're paying 220 something dollars for 55 inch TV. It's brand new. The Wi-Fi works good. It's not slow. All streaming services work. It also works great with Alexa. I love that. I can tell Alexa to turn it on and off and it works. You must make a Roku account and link it with your Amazon Alexa account. But other than that OK Tv for the price. You need a sound bar.

The tv itself w google even has more chanels than the roku. If I want Roku I can still buy a streaming device for it. I cudnt stand that Roku remote. When I 1st saw it, I thought-what is this? I purchased this to replace a Toshiba Fire TV for the bedroom that kept giving me "memory full" errors that prevented me from watching it. I had purchased the 65" TCL two years earlier and it worked flawless so I decided to stick with it. I've had it five months now and it works excellent. It did not come with the voice control remote (like the 65") but you can load the app on your phone and use it there. HOWEVER, I did have an old ROKU voice remote that I had for a ROKU stick and was able to pair it with this TV and it works fine. The picture quality in my opinion is excellent, but I don't care for the ultra high definition of some that look too real. I have a 4TB USB drive with hundreds of old TV series and movies that I can simply plug and play on this TV as well. It only requires that you install and use the free ROKU Media app on the TV. I highly recommend this TV!

Just a bigger tv but not a better picture quality. Picture is not bad but I was expecting better quality. Not lower.

i was skeptical given the low price, even though the professional reviews on TCL were very positive. i also bought 4 smaller onn tv at the same time. \n\n i am glad i did not go with google tv. Roku is also invasive but can be tricked to not track you, keeping you free from being fed disinformation that they think you'll be receptive to. \n\nThe onn tvs were even cheaper than TCL and every bit as good. \n\nHorrible delivery experience. I first ordered my tcl tv online early December. they sent a lead time of 30 days to ship it from georgia to iowa. there was no mechanism to cancel the order. After escalation to get the order canceled. They still charged my card and tries to deliver. \n\nDO NOT ORDER FROM WALMART ONLINE. A room full of clowns trying to design the worst customer experience possible could not make this experience more painful. \n\nsince walmart could not help me, i called the shipper about redirecting the delivery, and they said they could not since walmart was the customer, not me. walmart did not know where the tv was and had no mechanism to re route. i told a delivery person (60 days later) that i had cancelled the order and DO NOT deliver. i still get calls from the shipper trying to schedule delivery of a tv i already got a refund for!

Budget TCL Roku TV that outperforms the Google one
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·CharlesH
My TCL 75R615 suffered a backlight issue after 3 years so I wanted to replace it with a TCL as they've been a good budget TV for my girlfriend and me. I read that TCL was now using Google as its platform for apps so I purchased the TCL 75Q651G. Given that I needed to use my Google account to do anything, the lag, the dropped connections, the inconsistent playbacks, and various other issues, I returned the TV and looked to see if they still offered Roku TCL TVs as they have been great for me. The 75S451 was cheaper than the Google TV and since setting it up, no issues. I use Netflix, Plex, Disney , and Discovery with no issues. It's hooked up to an audio/video receiver and no issues there. Great TV if you have similar interests and like to save some money.

Easy to download streaming apps. Originally bought another TV but returned it as it would not allow the download Xfinity app. This TV was not an issue at all....some streaming apps are already loaded. Others you can download in seconds. Roku feature makes downloads quick and easy. Took a few minutes to find out how/where to adjust the picture and voice level but once you figure out the options, it's real simple. The only draw back I have with the remote is the volume controls on the side. I often hit the mute button by mistake. Everything else about the TV is great. Would highly recommend for the money. Platform is intuitive, easily scroll the sidebar list to reveal the related contents (ie LiveTV, Rental or Buy, Free) settings are basic with a few fun personal anidotes which I really can't say the same for the Fire Stick. I'm not disrespecting Amazon, at all , they're just 2 different beasts. I'm thankful to have both plug-n-play options vs the headache and $$$$ involved with cable.
